What is Giellajohka?

Giellajohka's location has housed accommodation for more than six decades. The place has been known in the past i.e. as Kiellatupa, which was a small oasis for hikers and travelers located here between the wilderness areas of Muotkatunturi and Paistunturi.

Nowadays Giellajohka is a family-owned and ran business. We, the current entrepreneurs, have been operating in Giellajohka since 2016 and we want to develop the services of this unique place in a versatile way, thinking about the surrounding environment.

How to reach us?

Our location is very remote between two great wilderness areas.

Still it is easy to reach us. You can take a bus or drive here by a car - the roads might snowy during the winter but it is still totally safe to drive here.

We offer also transportation for example from Ivalo Airport.

Things to do

We offer both activities and things you can do yourself.

Our property has i.e. multiple fireplaces for northern lights watching and grilling, almost 60 years old sauna and small hikes you can do.

We are far from the touristic crowds. You can easily find your inner and outer peace here at Giellajohka.
